ALGWA Tasmania president, Mayor Dr Mary Duniam, has extended ALGWA’s sincere thanks to Councillor Anna Reynolds for her remarkable 12 years of service to local government, including 8 years as Lord Mayor of the Hobart City Council.
In August, Councillor Anna Reynolds will step down as Lord Mayor of Hobart to take up a role as director of the 300 Million Solar Homes Initiative, working with mayors around the world to help fast-growing countries scale up rooftop solar.
Mayor Duniam said Anna’s leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the Tasmanian local government sector have left a lasting legacy.
“Her dedication to strengthening local democracy, championing community wellbeing, and advancing opportunities for women in leadership has been deeply valued across the state.”
“Her contribution — marked by vision, collaboration, and a steadfast focus on community outcomes — has helped shape a more inclusive and forward‑looking local government landscape in Tasmania.”
“ALGWA Tasmania acknowledges and celebrates Anna’s outstanding service and we wish her every success in her future endeavours.”
Councillor Anna Reynolds is the third woman elected as Lord Mayor of Hobart in the city’s 174 year history, following Doone Kennedy AO (1986 to 1996) and Sue Hickey (2014 to 2018).
When Anna steps down in August, Deputy Lord Mayor Zelinda Sherlock will take on the Lord Mayor role through to the October 2026 local government elections.
