Two Tasmanian members of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association have been recognised by their peers with life memberships.

Honouring many years of dedication to community through local government, particularly as long serving members of ALGWA Tasmania, Flora Fox and Annette Rockliff join the short list of respected Tasmanian women to be awarded life member status since the association formed in 1978.

A formal presentation of the awards will be held during the Australian Local Government Women’s Association’s 75th anniversary year in 2026.

Long-serving Kingborough Councillor, Flora Fox, attended her first ALGWA meeting in 1988, the year she was first elected to council. Flora brings a calm, encouraging wisdom and quiet persistence to ALGWA conversations and has demonstrated admirable dedication over 35+ years.

Inspired by ALGWA life member Mary Binks OAM, former Devonport Mayor, Annette Rockliff, was first elected to local government in 2007 and served as Deputy Mayor and Mayor 2014-2022 during a period of significant change and challenge for the district. Watch Annette’s farewell as mayor in 2022. Annette served as ALGWA Tas treasurer for many years and remains a dedicated community contributor.
